The Watermelon Festival is a spectacular NO COST family event that is open to the public. The event offers a full day of FUN, FOOD, MUSIC, CONTESTS and MORE…including a slice of FREE watermelon! You don’t want to miss this!
The festival will span an area between the Tuskegee Downtown Public Square and Farmers Market at 8AM with weigh-ins for the Largest Watermelon Contest. Vendors will be on site beginning at 9AM with a Kid’s Zone and Watermelon Contests (Seed Spitting Contest, Rind Throwing Contest, and the Most Creative Homemade Watermelon Product) kicking off at 10AM. Patrons can gain creative skills on carving at the Watermelon Carving Demo at 11AM.Multiple DJs will provide fun and soulful sounds while local musicians are invited to come and showcase their talents at the festival throughout the day.
The afternoon will be filled with MORE CONTESTS – Most Unusual Watermelon, Best Dressed Watermelon (that’s right…get crafty with and dress of your watermelon), Watermelon Art/Carving and of course the day wouldn’t be complete without a Watermelon Eating Contest. The afternoon will provide an opportunity for attendees to enjoy a fresh, sweet slice of watermelon!
With Tuskegee located just off of Interstate 85, US Highways 29 and 80, all roads lead to Tuskegee, AL for this inaugural event. Don’t forget the lawn chairs…we can’t wait to see you.
